Assessment

A continence assessment is an assessment performed by a Continence nurse specialist that examines an individual's bladder and bowel pattern and prepares a comprehensive management plan.
 

  •  Every 1 in 4 Australians is incontinent.

  •  Up to 10% of Australian males and 38% of women suffer from urinary incontinence.

  • Faecal incontinence affects 6% of males and 10% of women in Australia.

Your continence nurse will talk with you about your goals and what you want to accomplish.

​

  • Your continence nurse will ask you questions about yourself, your medical history, your bladder, and bowel difficulties.

  • Following your session, your continence nurse will create a full report that will be sent to you which include suggestions, therapies, continence products, and supports to help you to attain your goals.

  • Your continence nurse may be able to assist you in setting accounts with appropriate continence aids suppliers.

  • A complete assessment, detailed report, and continence product quote take at least 8-10 hours. If your requirements are complex or travel is required, additional hours may be required.
